Martha Desmond, ACNP, MS has accepted the position of Interim Department Chair for Nursing effective Jan. 9, 2017.
Martha holds a Master’s Degree in Nursing as well as completion of course work for a Doctorate of Nursing Science from Sage Graduate School, with an anticipated completion date of May 2017. In addition, Martha has been a full-time assistant professor in Nursing for the past 11 years at HVCC. Martha has served as a leader for Nursing 201, and has taught theory and clinical classes for all nursing courses and is a member of the Academic Senate.
Martha is very progressive and has a big interest in how to utilize technology to better meet the program’s Student Learning Outcomes. She been instrumental in implementing the simulation courses in Nursing, as well as greatly improving the program’s retention rate. In addition, she has implemented Service Learning within the Nursing 201 curriculum.
For the past three years, Martha also has held an adjunct professor’s position at Empire State Nursing program, focusing on health assessment, pharmacology and advanced clinical placement on-line courses.
